Argentina: The conviction of ex-president Cristina Kirchner confirmed by the Supreme Court

The Argentine Supreme Court confirmed on Tuesday, June 10, the conviction of ex-President Cristina Kirchner, a figure of Argentine politics for 20 years, to a sentence of six years in prison and life ineligibility for fraud during his presidency. In its judgment, the Court considers that the sentences pronounced in the first and second instances “were based on the numerous evidences produced”. Consequently, it dismissed the appeal of Cristina Kirchner who, on account of her age (72 years), should avoid incarceration in favour of an assignation à résidence.
