Arrest of two traffickers from Kush in the Lobou Gaz prison in Dakar

The Regional Brigade of Narcotics (BRS) in Dakar, which is part of the Central Office for the Suppression of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs (OCRTIS), arrested on 9 October 2025 two individuals suspected of being members of a criminal organisation and of possessing drugs. The suspects were arrested in possession of eight sachets and nineteen “képas” of Kush, a synthetic drug that is being used more and more in West Africa. This operation followed the exploitation of information indicating an intensive traffic orchestrated by the defendants at the bus stop commonly called “Lobou Gaz”, situated near the butane gas distribution company LobbouGaz Mame Diarra Bousso, on the Rufisque route to Dakar. The two individuals, whose identity has not been disclosed for the time being, mainly targeted a clientele composed of taxi and express drivers, apprentice drivers and other users of public transport. Placed under surveillance, they are the subject of an ongoing investigation to dismantle possible larger networks. This arrest takes place in the context of an increased fight against drug trafficking in Senegal, where the forces of order are increasing the seizures of hard and synthetic drugs. Le Kush is a synthetic drug of the cannabinoid type, initially appeared in Sierra Leone around 2016-2017 and rapidly spread in the West African region, including Senegal.
