Arsenal have canceled Tomiyasu’s contract.

Arsenal has chosen to end Takehiro Tomiyasu’s contract. The Japanese defender hasn’t played for the Gunners since October 2024, having undergone knee surgery in February and is not anticipated to return until late 2025. Although his contract is set to expire next summer, conversations about an early termination have taken place. According to the Daily Mail, a mutual agreement has been achieved, and an official announcement is forthcoming. Tomiyasu joined from Bologna for nearly £20 million in August 2021 but has faced ongoing injury challenges throughout his tenure at Arsenal. Last season, he made only a single substitute appearance across all competitions, totaling just six minutes of play against Southampton in October.
