ASER case: a month of prison with suspension for Pape Mahawa Diouf

Pape Mahawa Diouf, deputy spokesperson of the Alliance for the Republic (APR), was sentenced on Monday 13 October 2025 to one month of prison with suspension by the Tribunal des flagrants délits de Dakar. This condemnation follows his statements made during the Faram Facce show on 17 September 2025, in which he had referred to an alleged misappropriation of 37 billion FCFA within the Senegalese Agency for Rural Electrification (ASER). The Tribunal has dismissed the application for the constitution of a civil party of the ASER, which sought damages of 200 million FCFA. Le procureur had requested a plus lourde sentence (six mois dont trois fermes), accompanied by a fine and the publication of the judgment, but the judge retained a symbolic sentence. On the record, Pape Mahawa Diouf denied that he had spoken of embezzlement, claiming to have only referred to a “scandal” to be clarified, referring to the statements of MP Thierno Alassane Sall and press articles. L’ASER disputed these explanations, considering that its proposals had damaged its reputation. with senenews
