Former Arsenal and Chelsea defender Ashley Cole has identified his toughest opponent between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, having faced both during their peak years. Cole played against Ronaldo in the Premier League when Ronaldo was at Manchester United from 2003 to 2009 and later faced Messi in the Champions League while at Chelsea. In a Q&A session on Monday Night Football, Cole was asked to choose between Ronaldo and Messi. He stated, “It has to be Messi. People often talk about Ronaldo more because I played against him more. However, I believe marking Messi, when he was at his best… he was simply too good for me. Nevertheless, he has never scored against me.”
