Assore Squash Series Set For Thrilling Start At Parkview CentreĀ

Johannesburg – The Assore Squash Series begins tomorrow, Friday, 13 February 2026, with the four-leg PSA Satellite circuit to be played at the Parkview Squash Centre.

Qualifying matches were played earlier in the week, and attention now shifts to the main draw, when the top seeds enter the fray on Friday, signalling the start of what promises to be a highly competitive weekend of squash.

Heading the men’s field is rising Joburg Squash star John Anderson, whose consistency on the domestic circuit makes him one of the favourites to claim the inaugural title.

Anderson’s all-round game and tactical awareness will make him a difficult opponent to break down as he looks to stamp his authority on the series from the outset.

But lined up against him will be experienced Northerns player Ruan Olivier, who would love to set an early marker in this home-based series.

In the women’s draw, Northerns star Helena Hudson and Joburg Squash rival Teagan Russell lead the charge.

Hudson has built a reputation as one of the country’s most promising talents, combining attacking flair with strong court coverage.

Her presence adds significant quality to the event, and she will be eager to convert top billing into silverware.

The talented Russell represented South Africa at the World Cup in India last year, and that experience will be a major factor as she strives to shine on the domestic circuit.

The launch of the Assore Squash Series marks one of the most exciting developments in South African squash in recent years.

Structured as four PSA Satellite tournaments, the circuit will include bigger tournaments later in the year and provide emerging and established local players with a rare opportunity to compete regularly for official Professional Squash Association ranking points without the expense of overseas travel.

This pathway is particularly significant for developing players aiming to climb the world rankings.

By earning points on home soil, local squash players are able to build international profiles, improve seedings, and gain valuable high-pressure match experience.

Sponsors Assore, in partnership with Parkview Squash Centre, have played a pivotal role in bringing the series to life.

Their investment reflects a shared commitment to growing the sport locally and creating sustainable competitive platforms for South African athletes.

Parkview, widely regarded as one of the country’s premier squash venues, provides an ideal setting for the series opener.

Its show courts and spectator-friendly layout are expected to create an electric atmosphere as fans get the chance to watch top local talent up close.

With a blend of seasoned competitors and rising stars across both draws, the opening leg is expected to set the tone for the remainder of the series.

Players will not only be chasing titles but also crucial ranking points that could shape their professional trajectories in the months ahead.

As the first serves are struck on Friday, anticipation is high that the Assore Squash Series will deliver fast-paced action, intense rivalries, and a major boost for South African squash.

The four-leg PSA Satellite circuit ends on Sunday, 15 February 2026.

Dates for the remaining Satellite events at Parkview Squash Centre are February 19 to 22; February 26 to March 1; March 26 to 29.
