Atletico Madrid is keen on acquiring a key defender from Liverpool.

Atletico Madrid is interested in acquiring Liverpool defender Andy Robertson as the Anfield club approaches a deal to sign Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez as their primary left-back. Robertson mentioned last week that he hasn’t thought much about his future, as he is focused on enjoying a well-deserved vacation following a long and successful season in which he won the Premier League for the second time. However, with the transfer window set to open soon, the future of the Anfield staple and Scotland captain is uncertain for the first time in eight years. Kerkez is likely to cost between £45m and £50m and is expected to be the preferred option for Arne Slot at left-back. Liverpool wants to keep Robertson while allowing current backup Kostas Tsimikas to leave, but they realize that the 31-year-old Scot might consider moving on in search of more consistent playing time. Since joining from Hull City in 2017, Robertson has enjoyed great success on Merseyside and has one year remaining on his contract. He has achieved numerous accolades, including securing a second league title last season as Arne Slot’s team easily captured the Premier League. Robertson played a significant role, starting 33 out of 38 games. While some fans may be looking to the future, the 31-year-old defender is determined to maintain his position. “I can’t stop aging, but I know I still have plenty to offer,” Robertson shared with BBC Sport Scotland during his international commitments last week. “I truly believe I can contribute a great deal for as long as I’m able to play. My body feels good right now.” I can’t predict my feelings at 33 or 34, but I can say that at 31, I’m feeling great. BBC Sports
