​Attempted clandestine migration foiled: 244 migrants intercepted at sea 

  The National Division for the Fight against the Trafficking of Migrants and Similar Practices (DNLT) announced on Thursday that it had arrested 244 migrants, who had been handed over by the National Navy after an interception operation on the high seas. These individuals had left, on 27 July 2025 around 29 o’clock in the morning, a locality near Karang, in Gambia, with for final destination Spain by sea. According to the police, their boat was located and stopped on July 26 at 23h212, at approximately 27 nautical miles off Saint-Louis. Distribution of migrants by nationality and profiles: Senegal: 21 (13 hommes, 21 femmes, 22 mineurs garçons, 23 mineure fille) The number of women in the population is estimated to be between 20 and 30 million. Guinea: 51 (20 men, 22 women, 5 boys and 4 girls). Gambia: 52 (23 hommes, 5 femmes, 4 mineurs garçons, 2 mineures filles) The number of women in the Gambia is estimated to be around 250. Mali: 9 (6 men and 3 women).
