The President of the National Assembly, El Malick Ndiaye, received in audience, on Saturday 8 November, the Special Envoy of the President of the State of Palestine, Dr Mahmoud Sidqi Al-Habbash, accompanied by the Ambassador of Palestine to Senegal. The Palestinian envoy conveyed the thanks of President Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian people for the constant support and courageous positions of Senegal, notably in the face of the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza. He welcomed the historic role of Senegal, former president of the Committee for the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People. In return, President El Malick Ndiaye reaffirmed the unwavering solidarity of Senegal with Palestine, recalling the strong positions of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko. It called for a just and lasting solution based on the coexistence of two sovereign States, with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine, and welcomed the ceasefire agreement recently concluded between Israel and Hamas.
