Super Falcons Goalkeeper Announces Retirement From Football

Super Falcons goalkeeper Yewande Balogun has quit active football, reports Completesports.com.. Balogun took to the social media to announce her retirement from the round leather game.. “Maybe it’s fitting that I never officially announced “retirement” after university and after having knee cartilage replacement surgery. While it left me with no actual closure from my playing career, it also left open a door to go back to playing, and it was so obvious to walk through it when the opportunity presented itself a decade later,” she wrote on Instagram.. “The journey has been unpredictable with some beautiful highs and some dark lows. Sure, my path could have been different, but then so would the story. Now the story is one of belief; in God, in myself. One of determination against so many odds. One of taking risks, saying yes, and jumping far away from the safety net and into the unknown. A story of being too afraid of regret to even consider failure.. Read Also:Done Deal: Super Falcons Midfielder Joins NWSL Club Washington Spirit. “In this story, a lifelong dream of playing professional football, a dream I believed to be long lost, was revived. I was blessed to have represented Nigeria on the international stage. I lived and played in different countries and I never stopped learning about the game, about the world, or about myself.. “They say it’s not about the destination but the journey, and what I can tell you is that many of the best parts of this story didn’t take place on the pitch. They are the memories from the places I got see, and the people I met along the way. Many who walked alongside me, many who supported me, and the occasional antagonist. They all gave me reasons to keep the faith and continue to find the joy in all of it, despite the circumstances or plot twists. I’m especially grateful to the ones who helped make it all possible in the first place.. “My body is saying it’s time to close this chapter and hang up the boots (for real this time) but I thank God for every step of this journey. I’m forever grateful to the beautiful game and all it’s given me, so here’s to continuing to find ways to give right back. Thank you for all for the love and support along the way.”. • In the face of “uncertainty” surrounding Trudeau’s departure, Doug Ford dodges first election questions.

In the face of “uncertainty” surrounding Trudeau’s departure, Doug Ford dodges first election questions.

Premier Doug Ford of Ontario frequently resisted allowing an early poll and stuck to his talking points during a short speech on Monday as Justin Trudeau’s withdrawal threatened to stifle political intentions in the state. Ford was questioned five times by reporters whether a prospective chaos in a Democratic leadership competition in Ottawa, coupled with President-elect Donald Trump’s threat of tariffs, had motivate him to veto an early election in 2025. In response to a query about whether he would take an early election “off the table” after latest reports, Ford said,” I’m 100 percent focused on the taxes, on reaching out to the administrators, Congresspeople, lawmakers, and company leaders in the U.S. ” I’m hearing a lot about our positive ads and I can tell you, the problem is not Canada” .6: 09
Focus Ontario board: Is Doug Ford ready to call an earlier election? The top was speaking shortly after Trudeau made the announcement that he would step down as Democratic president and prime secretary once his replacement had been chosen. Ford was questioned four more times to determine whether he would rule out an election at least before the national vote and whether he feared a call for early elections might hurt his side’s chances in the elections. The top immediately responded to each question by bringing up the subject of the U.S. price threat and how he wanted to see the chance of 25 % levies on American goods addressed. Because Premier Ford has repeatedly refrained from excluding the possibility, the main focus is on these taxes right now. He after responded,” We’re going to continue working tight, building that relationship with the Congress people that sit on certain boards.” The premier evaded the possibility of an early election last year at various occasions, later saying he doesn’t call one in 2024 and glossing over the 2025 issue. Ford once more chose never to answer the question when given the chance to do so on Monday. Trending Then

Social experts, however, think it is doubtful Ford would establish an early election while federal elections is in turmoil and the risk of taxes from the U. S. remains. ” Given the political volatility in Ottawa and the political volatility caused by what’s presently coming out of Washington, I do think the president’s mathematics has changed very substantially”, Jamie Ellerton, founding partner at Conaptus, said. ” I think it injects a significant amount of political volatility and a potential danger that wasn’t there as late as six weeks ago,” said John Wright, a former researcher, who described Ford as” a very logical person” and said he was likely to be reevaluating any plans for an early election call. He told Global News,” I believe it is a time-honoured tradition for premiers to frequently not indicate when they might turn up to the polls.” It really is compromised this spring, in my opinion, if there were those who were opposed to the premier going early. You’re going to have the Liberal Convention as a backdrop, and there will be a ( federal ) election in June, perhaps sooner than that.” I would think that’s been diminished in terms of if he was going to go,” said Ontario Liberal Leader Bonnie Crombie, who called for” stability” from Ford and said he should commit to setting aside a fixed election date to make sure that can be achieved. &amp, copy 2025 Global News, a division of Corus Entertainment Inc.

Greater Toronto home sales decreased marginally previous month to cover a year in which buyers benefited from” substantial dealing authority” on cost. According to the Greater Toronto Area’s 3 359 properties sold in December, a 1.8 % decrease from the 3, 419 sales in the same quarter last year, according to the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board. The average selling price declined 1.6 per cent compared with a month earlier to$ 1, 067, 186, as the hybrid benchmark rate, meant to represent the common house, was off by less than one per cent year-over-year. The committee says 2024 was a” transitionary” year for the state’s housing sector as selling rose 2.6 per share to 67, 610 — outpaced by a 16.4 per cent increase in new advertisements, at 166, 121. Call of the Wilde: Montreal Canadiens defeat Vancouver Canucks in OT drama

The Montreal Canadiens returned house in the race for a playoff place after one of the most powerful Christmas road trips this decade. The Canadiens beat the next four Stanley Cup leaders Colorado, Vegas, Tampa Bay and Florida in attaining a 4-2 report on the six-game vacation. They had to make sure they kept the velocity going when they hosted the Vancouver Canucks, which they did in a thrilling time victory with a score of 5-4. Wild Animals The Canadiens had a great start, with both Jayden Struble and Kaiden Guhle delivering punishing hits. With a forearm chance from the high slot, Cole Caufield counted his 22nd purpose of the time before the match was two hours older. That’s targets in four right matches for Caufield. He is presently pro-rated for 45 on the year. The Canadians therefore put three right on the table. Two months ago, if the Canadiens allowed two in 20 hours to route 3-1, they wouldn’t have had any opposition, but these nights, they kept on believing. Kaiden Guhle scored his fourth goal of the year with a 3-2 lead, and Kirby Dach continued his powerful play with his fifth purpose in his last six games. The Canadiens ‘ powerful fight continued shortly after, with Lane Hutson intentionally banking a shot past the keeper in front of the internet. Hutson then has 30 points on the time to guide rookies in the points competition. This was Hutson’s best game of the season. Due to the ongoing underreach of Hutson, which he appears to be, in second place, for the Calder Trophy. The Canadiens won this exceptional game in overtime thanks to a flawless energy play setup. Suzuki could include a free search in all the room that Hutson made available. With a flawless picture, Suzuki made no mistakes. A three-point day was had by Suzuki. He has 41 positions in 40 game. The French clinch the game once more with a 5-4 succeed. Wild Goats For the first time since their fourth game of the season, the Canadiens have over.500. Additionally, they are tied for the Eastern Conference’s last playoff place. Montreal needed to finish the year at 7-4 in every 11 game section, according to reports next month. In the first category, they were 7-4. In the next category, they are 4-1 now. This resilient party, who continues to surprise, deserves praise. In this utter fine, there is no sheep. Wilde Cards At the middle level of the time, it is time for the Wilde Awards. Instead of a traditional look at the season with accolades like “best forward” ( Nick Suzuki ) or “best defenseman” ( Lane Hutson ), it’s a slightly more original look at the team’s “best of” after 40 games. Most Underappreciated Player – Virtually no value is given to him in the league, but all he does is fight back and prevail. During the new road vacation, Suzuki faced Alex Barkov, Brayden Point, Jack Eichel, and Nathan MacKinnnon, and beat them all. In four game, four of the NHL’s top centers scored one goal. Suzuki’s collection was on for just one even-strength target against in those four activities. Suzuki is one of the best two-way facilities in sports, and he didn’t actually find a scent for the Four Nations Tournament. The stability of the entire team has been altered by the best public manager move, Alexandre Carrier, who replaced Justin Barron. Carrier has perfected a correct side opening in Montreal while Barron is struggling in Nashville. Kaiden Guhle can perform the left side where he is obviously better because of Carrier’s stable and strong character. David Savard has also been given a new role in the second matching thanks to Carrier’s arrival, which means fewer minutes and less match-ups. Best Head Coaching Decision – Martin St. Louis reaffirmed his conviction that he wasn’t required to transition from the cross program. His continued instruction in the hardest aspects has conveyed to his people a distinct concept that he believes in them. If he had simplified all of his ideas, it would have stated that they were insufficient and did not possess the characteristics he believed they did. It’s sent a message of endurance as also, that however long it takes, it will get done correctly. They have installed the program. They are smoothly rotating on the fly. They have tightened their army considerably. Most Surprising Player: Jakub Dobes is the one who wins, despite the complexity of the situation. He has just played two events, but a.982 save portion is tremendous. His professionalism is amazing. His flair is onlymatched by his saves’ quality, which is unparalleled. No one could have predicted the distinction between Dobes and Primeau at.836 before the period started. It is a total shock when the goaltending position turns in this way. The third-highest freshman goal scorer in the NHL deserves more, according to Player Who Deserves More at this time. With this achievement, Emil Heineman deserves a chance to get on the roster. With Juraj Slafkovsky struggling, Heineman may become tried on the first line. With Patrik Laine ill with the virus, he might have been able to try him on the following line. Additionally, he might receive more strength play day. Heineman has a strong 200-foot game, but if he has a chance, he won’t damage the club. He’s earned it. Most Superior Player: Jake Evans is having his best year yet at the age of 28. Evans is shooting 30 % when he was fortunate to receive 10 % in other seasons. He has 10 targets now when 13 is his job great. He has likely moved from a two-year contract offer of$ 2 million per season, to a four-year contract with a yearly salary of$ 4 million. With about a double-digit result in ambitions over the next best third collection in all of the NHL, Evans is centring the best third collection in all of the league. The most exciting player is Lane Hutson, who has the ability to make them all out of their seats while throwing crowns for his hat trick against Buffalo on every other day. He is thrilling to enjoy. His rookie season has been incredible, and his ability to have the puck relatively at his will against the best players in the world is amazing. He is just 20. Hutson sells reservations. The Canadiens have never had such a joy to watch on their squad since Alex Kovalev. General Best Prospect: He is not only the best idea for the Canadiens, but also, according to ESPN, the best idea not in the NHL. With only 11 minutes of playing per day, Ivan Demidov is on the verge of becoming the best KHL draft-plus-one player in the league’s history. Everyone will be saying the same thing in a year:” How did Demidov drop half overall”? Best Prospect in Laval – With so many top prospects to choose from, including Logan Mailloux, Adam Engstrom, and Joshua Roy, Owen Beck will be the best player. Beck is the next leading scorer on the team, but the chief in plus/minus at plus-10. He plays the defense roles with great intelligence and is a center with a dependable game. Beck will be the next Rocket to play for the Canadiens regularly. As there should be, there is a lot of hope in these prizes. This is a cheerful time. Since Kent Hughes became the GM in his 36th quarter, the restore has already begun to show signs of growth and maturity. They are now making headway with postseason expectations. Given the ability that is still developing, this is incredible. 4: 53

Why we will not apologise for our actions – ECWA Seminary tells critics

The management of ECWA Theological Seminary, Jos (JETS) has stated that it will not apologize for awarding an honorary doctorate to Apostle Arome Osayi, asserting that its actions were guided by the institution’s core values and mission.. This was contained in a statement signed by the Provost of the institution, Prof. Sunday Bobai Agang, which was made available to journalists in Jos, the Plateau State capital, in response to YouTube videos criticizing the honorary doctorate awarded to Osayi.. The statement reads: “The attention of ECWA Theological Seminary, Jos, JETS, has been drawn to a series of YouTube videos in which the institution is subjected to several cyberattacks and defamatory statements by a sponsored YouTube channel, ‘The True Christian Faith.’. “The attacks, which are purported to be in reaction to JETS’ decision to give an honorary doctorate award to Apostle Arome Osayi, are considered by JETS to be unjust, unfair, and unchristian.. “As an institution, JETS refuses to acknowledge the self-appointed authority of the critic and will not engage in a war of words. Instead, we choose to focus on our core values, mission, vision, and mandate, which are centered on constructive building and public theology.. “We note that the critic has a history of cyberbullying and attacking the theological content of others, including renowned church leaders. JETS considers the critic’s approach to be reactive, unchristian, and unlawful.. “We maintain that the award of an honorary doctorate to Apostle Arome Osayi was done in accordance with our established traditions and due processes,” the statement explained.. “Apostle Osayi’s contributions to social actions, advocacy, and church work make him a deserving recipient of the award.. “We will not be intimidated by the critic’s attacks but will stand by our evangelical theology and our commitment to serving God in a lawful and loving manner,” it maintained.. “We will not apologize for our actions, which are guided by our core values and mission,” the statement stressed.

States have no justification not to pay new minimum wage – NECA DG

The Director General of Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association, NECA, Adewale Oyerinde, has said that all the 36 states of the federation have no justification for not paying the new minimum wage.. The state governments, Oyerinde explained, have received enough support from the Federal Government to be able to implement the N70,000 minimum wage signed into law in July 2024.. After President Bola Tinubu assented to the bill, many state governments pledged to implement it, while others raised concerns about their financial capacity.. Appearing on Arise TV programme, ‘The Morning Show’ on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, Oyerinde dispelled claims that some states may not have funds to pay the minimum wage, stressing that the new wage structure has come to stay.. He stressed that funds should not be an excuse for any state because the Federal Government has increased their allocations.. According to him, allocations to state governments have increased proportionately.. “With a little fiscal discipline, no state should complain that they can’t pay N70,000 as approved by the President,” he observed.. Oyerinde added that if state governors refuse to pay the new minimum wage, the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, would have to change their strategy for engagement to get them to pay.

Peter Obi left Anambra without tangible progress – Bashir Ahmad

Bashir Ahmad, former media aide to ex-President Mohammadu Buhari, has slammed the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, over his consistent criticism of the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government.. DAILY POST reports that Obi had on several occasions, tackled the All Progressives Congress, APC, administration over some policies perceived to be unfavourable to Nigerians.. In a post on his official X handle on Tuesday, Ahmad said Obi’s antecedents do not match his current claims.. According to Ahmad, there was no tangible progress in Anambra State when Obi served as governor of the state for eight years.. He wrote, “If Peter Obi truly embodies the transformative leader he has been struggling to portray, he could have demonstrated it during his eight years as governor by turning Anambra into a model of good governance in Nigeria.. “However, he achieved nothing during his time. He left Anambra without any tangible progress or a legacy to his name.”
