Authorities apprehend an individual for purchasing damaged EEDC equipment in Onitsha.  

Authorities in Anambra State have apprehended a man suspected of purchasing materials stolen from the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC). The 40-year-old man, known as Maduka, was detained in Onitsha while in possession of equipment from a vandalized site. SP Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, reported that the police are broadening their investigation to find the suppliers of the stolen goods. He stated, “On June 14, 2025, at 4:15 PM, officers from the Rapid Response Squad RRS Awkuzu, acting on reliable tips, arrested Maduka in Fegge, Onitsha, who is suspected of dealing in stolen items and equipment. The team seized bags filled with stolen copper wires, large amounts of high-tension wires, copper coils, and other transformer materials. Based on his confession regarding the sale locations in Ogun and Lagos States, the investigation will continue to expand.”
