Authorities in Delta have detained four individuals believed to be part of a cult and have confiscated weapons from them.  

Members of the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), headed by ASP Julius Robinson, have apprehended four individuals suspected of cult activities on Yoruba Street in Sapele town, Delta State. During the operation, the police seized a Beretta pistol along with three live rounds of ammunition from the suspects. The arrested individuals are Rasheed Atanda, 31 years old, Charles Oyowe, 49 years old, Rewane Ogbitse, 49 years old, and Shedrack Oloko, 44 years old. Their arrest took place on June 29, 2025, according to a report from DAILY POST. SP Bright Edafe, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident through a statement provided to our correspondent in Warri, stating that the CP-SAT acted on reliable intelligence to carry out the arrests. SP Edafe stated that initial investigations resulted in the arrest of additional suspects, namely: Charles Oyowe, a 36-year-old male from Obeda in Warri North LGA of Delta State, who was found with a Beretta pistol and three live rounds of ammunition; Rewane Ogbitse, a 49-year-old male from Jakpa in Warri South LGA; and Shedrack Oloko, a 44-year-old male from Ethiope East LGA. He also mentioned that “all of the suspects admitted to being part of the EYE confraternity.”
