After the final analysis of the results in the Okaikwei Central constituency, Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu of the National Democratic Congress ( NDC ) lost his bid to enter Parliament on his first attempt. The New Patriotic Party ( NPP ) candidate Patrick Yaw Boamah was elected as the MP-elect in the revised tally.
Boamah secured 21, 099 votes, beating Baba Sadiq, who garnered 19, 368 votes, with a success ratio of 1, 731. The Electoral Commission was required to include benefits from 31 voting stations that had been left out during the first count in this ultimate declaration, in response to a High Court order.
The NPP filed a court contest after Baba Sadiq was declared the winner on election day. The High Court next ordered a re-collection of the uncollected polling station effects, which was eventually overturned. The re-collection confirmed Patrick Boamah’s success, keeping the NPP in charge of the Okaikwei Central legislative seat.
