Inculpé depuis le 24 septembre 2024 par le Doyen des juges d’instruction, Jérôme Bandiaky, known under the nickname of “Sniper”, has spent six months in preventive detention at the prison of Rebeuss. Prosecuted for “fraud, illegal possession of firearms and usurpation of office”, he should have been given a leave of absence for the closure of the investigation. However, as this deadline approached, the prosecution added a new charge: “Trafficking in arms”. This criminal offence automatically prolongs his incarceration, preventing any immediate release, informs Les Echos. A situation judged arbitrary by his relatives, who consider that this requalification is based on fragile bases. Unlike other detainees who requested a provisional release, Mimi Touré’s former bodyguard did not submit a request in this sense. He remains in prison awaiting the outcome of his case, while his supporters denounce an unfair prolongation of his detention.
