The official list of the 30 nominees for the Ballon d’Or 2025, awarded to the best footballer of the 2024-2025 season, was unveiled on Thursday 7 August by France Football, via the site and application of L’Équipe. Without major international tournaments this summer, club performances, notably in the Champions League and the Club World Cup, dominated the criteria. Among the favourites, Ousmane Dembélé (PSG) stands out after a historic triple (Ligue 1, Coupe de France, Ligue des champions) with 37 goals and 14 assists. Lamine Yamal (Barcelona), aged 17, is a serious contender with 18 buts, 25 decisive passes and a double Liga-Copa del Rey. Raphinha (Barcelona), with 34 goals and 25 assists, and Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), the Premier League title holder, are also in the mix, despite disappointing European records. Vitinha (PSG) and Nuno Mendes (PSG) won the ground, boosted by their performances in club and in the League of Nations with Portugal. Other likely names include Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid), Achraf Hakimi (PSG), Désiré Doué (PSG), Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid) and Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona).
