The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, chaired, on Thursday 23 October 2025, the first session of the Conseil Supérieur d’Orientation Agro-Sylvo-Pastorale (CSOASP), an instance of strategic dialogue between the State and the actors of the rural world. This historic meeting took place twenty years after the adoption of the Loi d’Orientation Agro-Sylvo-Pastorale et Halieutique (LOASPH). It allowed the presentation of the revised version of this law, adapted to the new challenges of sustainable development, food sovereignty and agricultural modernisation. The holding of this council for the first time marked, according to several observers, the sense of listening and the particular attention that the Head of State accords to the rural world. Le Président Faye welcomed the participatory, inclusive and transparent nature of the process leading to the revision of the text. “It reaffirmed the Government’s determination to make the LOASPH the legal and strategic basis of a modern, equitable and resilient agriculture, at the service of the population. “To make Senegal a competitive, resilient, inclusive and sustainable country, based on strong, equitable growth and supported by quality human capital”, declared the Head of State, recalling the vision that guides his action for a harmonious economic and social development for the benefit of the rural world.
