The Bauchi State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Caretaker Committee aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has directed executives loyal to Governor Bala Mohammed to vacate all PDP secretariats across the state within 14 days.
The directive was issued by the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, during a press conference in Bauchi.
He warned that failure to comply would attract lawful consequences.
Jungudo said the committee was appointed by the PDP National Working Committee, NWC, to oversee the affairs of the party in Bauchi State and restore order following internal crises.
“The committee is grateful to the National Working Committee under the leadership of Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed for approving our appointment. We accept this responsibility and pledge to discharge it diligently in line with the party’s constitution and directives of the national leadership,” he said.
He stressed that the caretaker committee remains committed to unity, discipline, constitutionalism, and the rule of law, while pledging loyalty to the party’s national leadership and key stakeholders.
The committee also issued an apology to former Governor of Jigawa State and PDP founding member, Sule Lamido, over what it described as the embarrassment he suffered during the party’s aborted National Convention.
According to Jungudo, the apology was necessitated by the alleged refusal to sell nomination forms to Lamido, an action he attributed to Governor Bala Mohammed, the former Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum.
“The committee finds it necessary to extend its unreserved apology, on behalf of the good people of Bauchi State, to His Excellency, Sule Lamido, for the embarrassment and inconvenience caused by the deliberate actions of Governor Bala Mohammed,” he stated.
Jungudo stated that the committee would operate strictly within the confines of the law, adding that any violence or harm to party members or supporters would be held against Governor Bala Mohammed.
This is as the committee dismissed claims by individuals allegedly parading themselves as members of the PDP National Working Committee, describing their recent convention in Ibadan as illegitimate.
He said the gathering failed to comply with existing court judgments and lacked the supervision of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
“The public should not be misled by these activities. Legitimacy is derived from compliance with party laws, court orders, and the constitution, not by meetings convened by former governors or lawmakers,” Jungudo said.
He further noted that pending legal disputes involving INEC and the purported convention cannot confer legitimacy or authority on those involved.
Jungudo referenced the party’s 103rd National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting held on November 18, 2025, which he said resulted in the expulsion of Governor Bala Mohammed and the dissolution of state party executive committees.
He urged party members and the general public to respect and recognize the NEC’s decision.
“Accordingly, all illegal occupants of PDP secretariats across the state are hereby directed to remove their personal belongings and vacate the premises within 14 days. Failure to comply will attract lawful consequences,” he reiterated.
He appealed to party members contemplating defection to remain, assuring them of fairness, inclusiveness, and unity under the caretaker committee.
