
The Catholic Bishop of Otukpo Diocese, Most Rev. Michael Ekwoyi Apochi has visited St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, Ojije in Utonkon, Ado Local Government Area of Benue State to console the faithful following the abduction of several parishioners during a vigil on February 6, 2026.
During the visit, Bishop Apochi expressed deep sympathy to the affected community and assured them that the Diocese is working closely with security agencies and local leaders to secure the safe release of the kidnapped victims.
He urged parishioners to remain hopeful, united, and steadfast in prayer.
The Bishop also commended the swift response of youths, the village head, and community members, calling on them to remain vigilant and committed to peace and security.
The pastoral visit happened with an episcopal blessing.
Bishop Apochi was accompanied by Fr. Michael Oko and Fr. Emmanuel Ejeh, while the parish priest of St. Paul’s Parish, Utonkon, Fr. Boniface Ogwuche, and his assistant, Fr. Fredrick Ondoma, were also in attendance.
