Between bombs and silence: civilians trapped in forgotten conflicts

Tensions between India and Pakistan have again cost lives. On Wednesday, exchanges of fire and mutual bombings killed at least 34 people: 26 on the Pakistani side and 8 on the Indian side. In response to the Indian strikes, the Pakistani government authorized its army to retaliate. Three Indian fighter planes have been shot down by the Pakistani air defence. As calls for de-escalation multiply on the international stage, the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip continues to deteriorate. According to several NGOs and United Nations agencies, the living conditions have become critical: the population has cruelly lacked food, drinking water and medicine for more than three months.
