The bill to abolish several fees including the electronic tax (e-levy ), betting duty, and COVID charge, is set to be laid before Parliament now, Wednesday, March 12.
Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson announced the maneuver during a Joy News meeting Tuesday, March 11 after the display of the 2025 budget speech before Parliament.
According to him, the expenses to maintain those fees are scrapped may become placed before Parliament now, and they expect politicians to drive them through with vigor.
During the funds demonstration to Parliament on Tuesday, Ato Forson announced that those three fees, alongside a dozen people,’ may be abolished’.
The NDC campaigned on removing those fees that the earlier NPP government imposed on Citizens and wasted no time in scrapping them in their first resources.
But, following the announcement, arguments exploded on social media as NPP-affiliated accounts claimed the state is playing games by saying they’ will’ prohibit the income without a certain period.
According to Dr Forson, but, the costs to waste these fees will be placed as soon as now and again Parliament completes the process of passing a costs for the President to sign into law, all those fees will be gone.
