
Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, on Saturday cast his vote in the local government chairmanship and councillorship elections held across the state.
The governor voted at Ajari II Polling Unit 006 in Mafa Ward, Mafa Local Government Area.
Speaking with journalists after voting, Zulum expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise and the turnout of voters in the area.
“I am satisfied with the process and the level of participation. From what I have seen, the election has been peaceful and orderly,” he said.
The governor described the poll as a test run ahead of future elections, expressing optimism about his party’s prospects in subsequent contests.
The local government elections are being conducted in Borno’s 27 local government areas and 312 wards, with six political parties participating in the exercise.
Zulum was accompanied to the polling unit by the member representing Mafa in the Borno State House of Assembly, Baba Ali Modu; the Acting Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr Babagana Mallumbe; the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Mustapha Ali Busuguma; and other government officials and party supporters.
