(BPRW) JTCHS Introduces a Groundbreaking Residency Program with the Inauguration of a New Teaching and Research Facility. (Black PR Wire) MIAMI, FL — The Jessie Trice Community Health System (JTCHS) has celebrated the grand opening of the Annie R. Neasman Teaching and Research Annex and the launch of the JTCHS Family Medicine Residency Program, in collaboration with the Jessie Trice Community Health Foundation (JTCHF), as part of their ongoing commitment to enhancing primary care. This initiative represents an important advancement in tackling the persistent deficit of primary care providers. The gathering took place at the JTCHS Dr. Fatima Zafar Health & Wellness Center and included JTCHS leadership, board members, staff, resident physicians, healthcare experts, and community collaborators. Included among the notable attendees was Ms. Annie R. Neasman, the previous president and CEO of JTCHS, whose impact on enhancing education and research is perpetuated by the annex that bears her name. “This residency program marks a significant achievement; we take great pride in commencing this new phase in medical education at JTCHS,” stated Ryan R. Hawkins, the current president and CEO of JTCHS. “Educating the future generation of family doctors helps us create a healthier future for the communities we support.” The JTCHS Family Medicine Residency Program is guided by a diverse group of healthcare experts and provides a practical curriculum focused on patient-centered care, population health, and serving communities in need. According to Dr. Joycelyn Lawrence, the chief medical officer of JTCHS and the designated institutional official for the program, residents who receive training at teaching health centers and federally qualified health centers are more inclined to continue their practice in areas that lack sufficient healthcare services. “It is a privilege for us to guide these gifted residents as they develop into proficient, assured, and caring doctors.”
