(BPRW) THE WOMAN IN THE YARD – Hitting theaters on March 28. Everything familiar will be thrown into chaos… (Black PR Wire) A solitary, ghostly woman dressed in complete black suddenly shows up on a family’s lawn, offering no explanation, and ominously tells them, “today’s the day.” What is her origin? What is she looking for? When is she going to depart? Only the Woman in the Yard holds the truth. From Blumhouse, the leading global name in horror, comes a fresh original thriller featuring BAFTA and SAG nominee Danielle Deadwyler (Till, The Harder They Fall, The Piano Lesson) as Ramona, a woman overwhelmed by sorrow after surviving a car crash that claims her husband (Russell Hornsby; BMF, Fences). Severely injured, Ramona must raise their 14-year-old son (Peyton Jackson; Respect, American Refugee) and 6-year-old daughter (Estella Kahiha; Will Trent, BMF) by herself in their rural farmhouse. One day, a mysterious woman appears in their yard. Although Ramona initially thinks the woman (Okwui Okpokwasili; The Exorcist: Believer, Julie Taymor’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream) might be lost or mentally unstable, it soon becomes apparent that she is not an ordinary presence and harbors malevolent intentions. Ramona now has to fight to keep herself and her children safe from the relentless woman who won’t go away. The Woman in the Yard is helmed by Jaume Collet-Serra, known for directing Black Adam and Jungle Cruise, and who recently worked with Deadwyler on the action thriller Carry On. The screenplay is penned by debut feature writer Sam Stefanak. Producing the film are Jason Blum, recognized for The Invisible Man and The Black Phone, alongside the esteemed Emmy-nominated producer Stephanie Allain p.g.a. The Exorcist: Believer, along with Hustle & Flow, is produced by Danielle Deadwyler, Jaume Collet-Serra, James Moran, and Gabrielle Ebron. It falls under the horror thriller genre.
