Burnley has officially acquired Ugochukwu from Chelsea.

Burnley has officially signed Lesley Ugochukwu from Chelsea for over £20 million. The 21-year-old midfielder has agreed to a five-year contract at Turf Moor. Reports suggest that the transfer fee is comparable to the £23.2 million Chelsea spent to acquire Ugochukwu from Rennes in 2023. “Burnley Football Club is pleased to announce the arrival of French midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu,” the club stated. “The skilled 21-year-old has signed a five-year deal at Turf Moor after the Clarets triumphed over significant competition from other Premier League and European teams for his signature. With this move, Ugochukwu becomes the seventh new player added to Scott Parker’s squad this summer.” Ugochukwu was deemed unnecessary at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea aims to offload several players from their so-called ‘bomb squad,’ which includes England internationals Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell who are training apart from Enzo Maresca’s main squad. He spent two years at Chelsea, where he made 15 appearances across all competitions in his first season, before moving on loan to Southampton for the 2024-25 season.
