Bridges edged Dream Team in a thrilling encounter at McKenzieville Stadium. The Cambridge Football Club Reserve team, playing in the local MAFA league, hosted Dream Team FC on May 25.
The match started slowly, and the players’ concentration was lacking, which allowed Dream Team to take an early lead.
Cambridge started gaining momentum as the match progressed.
Bridges pushed Dream Team back into their half, and neat play between the forwards and backs enabled Cambridge Reserves to score the equalising goal.
As the second half started, Cambridge came out with purpose and attacked from all corners of the field. The attack resulted in a second goal for Cambridge. Not long thereafter, Bridges scored their third goal.

Dream Team did not stop trying and managed to score a second goal, making it 3–2 to Cambridge. That is where the game ended and allowed Bridges to gain three points for the win.
“The boys showed what they were capable of today. They executed what we practised in the match, and we got the three points we needed,” said Seun Motloung, coach of Cambridge Reserves.
“We must now focus on our last game in round one against AS Astra while we are building the team. We are heading in the right direction and will remain focused,” said Ignatius Maphike, club chairperson.
The previous week, the Cambridge Reserves played to a 2-2 draw against AC Villa. Cambridge’s first team is still in limbo, awaiting the outcome of their appeal after being suspended from the Hollywood Bets League.
