Duduza – TV Entertainment, Veromo Enterprise and Jobe Brands hosted their second annual School Is Cool Career Expo on March 29.
One of the organisers, Tshepo Sithole, said the aim was to expose learners to career professionals and information.
“We hosted a couple of reputable institutions like Gibela Rail, the Kwa-Thema TVET College and the Boston Media House, to name a few.
“The Department of Education helped us by writing a memorandum to all high schools in KwaTsaDuza, advising grades 11 and 12 learners to attend the expo.
“The day was full of festivities, and we hosted a spelling bee and dance competition to keep the learners excited about the expo,” he explained.

The event hosted guests from various sectors to guide learners on careers, the requirements, challenges and expectations.
The speakers were a geologist, an attorney, a financial crimes investigator and a demand and supply chain manager, among others.
“We sat with the guests to have a panel discussion to address problems they faced in obtaining their qualifications so the learners could avoid repeating their mistakes.
“We are grateful to our partners, Africans United, for the long-lasting development of Africa, the National Electronics Media Institute of South Africa and Jobe Brands, to name a few.
“School Is Cool is about career exhibition and mentorship, so we take our learners seriously. We plan to grow into a global force of change because we have adopted the maxim of being the change people want to see. We will instil literacy and information in learners from disadvantaged backgrounds,” he added.
