Former Arsenal player Santi Cazorla has condemned Barcelona for their inadequate treatment of Xavi Hernandez last season. It’s worth noting that Xavi was dismissed by the club before the conclusion of the season.
In an interview with The Athletic, Cazorla expressed that Xavi should have been given the chance to remain as Barcelona’s manager. He said: “I understand that Xavi shares the same feelings for Barcelona that I have for Oviedo. He joined the dugout during a tough time, motivated by his passion for the club and a desire to contribute.
“He believed in young players who are now excelling and becoming world-class, such as Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi.” He returned them so they could compete for championships. However, that was not appreciated.
“They treated him unjustly, and he has endured a great deal. I talked to him, and he’s been going through a really tough time. He now desires to relax and be with his family. However, he will come back to coaching in the future.”
