NPFL: Daga Eyes European Move, Misses Enyimba’s CAFCC Victory Over Black Bulls

Enyimba midfielder and former Nigeria U-20 Flying Eagles player, Daniel Daga, is edging closer to a move to Europe as he targets a potential deal with an undisclosed club in Norway, Completesports.com reports.. The talented midfielder was notably absent as Enyimba, nicknamed The People’s Elephant, kept their CAF Confederation Cup knockout qualification hopes alive with a resounding 4-1 victory against Mozambique’s Black Bulls on Sunday in Uyo.. Completesports.com investigations revealed that Daga’s agent advised him to sit out the match to avoid potential injuries that could jeopardise the transfer.. Daga, who was part of Enyimba’s squad during their goalless NPFL rescheduled fixture against Bendel Insurance in Aba on December 31, 2024, was present in Uyo on matchday and reportedly eager to play. However, he ultimately honoured his agent’s advice.. “He even went to congratulate the coach in his hotel room after the match,” Daga’s teammate disclosed to Completesports.com.. Surprisingly, Coach Stanley Eguma was not fazed by Daga’s absence, relishing the team’s emphatic victory.. “For some time now, we haven’t scored up to four goals in a single game,” a club source remarked.. Eguma had earlier informed the club chairman about Daga’s decision not to play, but efforts to convince the player to feature proved unsuccessful.. In Daga’s absence, Eguma drafted right-back Innocent Gabriel into the central midfield role, and the player excelled, prompting speculation that Gabriel may retain the position when Enyimba hosts Egypt’s Al-Masry in a crucial Matchday 5 CAF Confederation Cup fixture on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.. That’s why we’re a team,” the former Rivers United manager said.. The coach also discussed his plans to strengthen the squad during the upcoming transfer window.. “Aside from the attack, we also need to bolster the defence, and a centre-back is a priority. I’m satisfied with the goalkeepers, but we’ll need about three midfielders,” Eguma added.. By Sab Osuji. Got what it Takes?. Predict and Win Millions Now. Join Now. Got what it Takes?. NPFL: Enyimba set target for season after difficult spell

Enyimba team manager Okey Nwabeke has revealed the team’s target following their recent struggles in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL. Nwabeke says that a top-three finish is the minimum expectation from the team in this campaign.

The nine-time NPFL champions are without a win in seven matches in the league. Enyimba currently occupies ninth position on the NPFL table with 24 points. “The Chairman, Nwankwo Kanu, has made it clear: ‘It’s either you win the league title or secure a continental ticket—nothing less,” Okey Nwabeke told Complete Sports.“

So, we’re working hard to achieve that goal. We have three outstanding matches, and we are focused on securing nine points from those games.”

EPL: Liverpool fail to extend lead at the top after 2-2 draw with Man U

Liverpool failed to pull away significantly from their Premier League rivals, following a 2-2 draw with Manchester United on Sunday. Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Brighton yesterday meant that the Reds could go eight points clear.

The first half ended goalless at Anfield, with both sides struggling to create clear chances. But it was United who took the lead, thanks to a sensational finish from Lisandro Martinez. Liverpool were level within five minutes through Cody Gakpo and took the lead after Mohamed Salah stroked home a penalty.

However, Amad Diallo ensured that Ruben Amorim’s men left with a point, as he tapped in Alejandro Garnacho’s cross. The result means Liverpool remain six points clear of Arsenal with a game in hand.

EPL: Opportunity lost – Carragher reacts to Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Man U

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has described the team’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United as “an opportunity lost.” The Reds fought back from Lisandro Martinez’s goal to lead 2-1, thanks to Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah.

Amad Diallo scored a late equaliser for United as they took points off Liverpool for a second consecutive season at Anfield. The result also means Arne Slot’s men failed to extend their lead at the top of the table.

“It will feel like an opportunity lost for Liverpool,” Carragher said on Sky Sports. “They will have seen Arsenal’s result last night and expected to come into this game and win. “There was too much of a feeling coming into the game that Liverpool would whack Manchester United aside. People were talking about how many goals they were going to score. But it wasn’t to be.”
