The Catholic Church has suspended Rev. Fr. Daniel Okanatotor Oghenerukevwe after news broke about his surprise wedding in the United States. The Catholic Diocese of Warri issued a expulsion letter, signed by Bishop Anthony Ovayero Ewherido and Rev. Fr. Martin Abobo, on January 16, 2025, explaining what led to this selection. On December 29, 2024, Fr. Oghenerukevwe got married to Ms. Dora Chichah at Streams of Joy Church in Dallas, Texas. Videos of the ceremony immediately spread on social media, drawing attention to the situation. The chapel stated that by getting married, Fr. Oghenerukevwe broke religion principles, which led to an automated suspension. “ He can no longer represent himself as a Catholic priest of the Diocese of Warri, ” the statement said. Before the relationship, Fr. Oghenerukevwe had written to the Diocese on November 30, 2024, asking to keep his religious jobs. The chapel told him to deliver the required paperwork to complete the process, but instead of waiting, he went away with the marriage. Bishop Ewherido said, “May God help him echo and guide him up on the right path. ” The religion added that Fr. Oghenerukevwe may appeal the suspension if he shows he’s ready to follow the guidelines again. For now, religion people are being asked to pray for him as he deals with the consequences of his actions. Understand ALSO: Refused A UK Visa?
