General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), has stated that the Armed Forces of Nigeria will maintain their operational pace and readiness in both domestic and international deployments. According to Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Shittu, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, the CDS made these remarks during his Christmas address on December 26, 2024, at a luncheon with the troops of Joint Task Force Northwest Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) at Giginya Cantonment, Sokoto. General Musa highlighted the season’s reminder of the values of love, hope, unity, and selflessness that the troops exemplify in their service to the nation. He expressed deep gratitude to the troops for their unwavering commitment and sacrifices in ensuring Nigeria’s safety, especially in their role in OPFY. He noted that despite challenges, their dedication to duty inspires and showcases the true spirit of patriotism necessary to tackle threats to national peace and stability. The CDS also emphasized the recent deployment of the Special Operations Brigade and combat enablers to address the resurgence of Lakurawa terrorists in Sokoto and Kebbi states as a clear indication of their commitment to combatting security threats in all operational areas. He encouraged the troops to stay determined in their roles, mentioning that the upcoming year holds the potential for significant advancements in overcoming the nation’s challenges.
