Centif: 43 explosive dossiers, a deputy under threat, and an increased fight against corruption

According to the information reported by Le Quotidien, the National Financial Information Processing Unit (Centif) recently transmitted 43 new files to the Judicial and Financial Prosecutor’s Office (PJF). These transmissions are part of a context marked by suspicions of financial misappropriation aimed at a coalition MP Takku Wallu, whose parliamentary immunity could be lifted in the near future. During the past year, 43 dossiers were transferred to the judiciary, illustrating an intensification of efforts to combat these economic crimes. Media attention also focuses on the case involving Farba Ngom, for which the investigations conducted by the Centif have allowed the Parquet to initiate legal proceedings. Although the report does not mention the name of the Member concerned by the recent suspicions, it does mention a significant increase in the number of suspicion declarations (Dos) sent by institutions such as banks, notaries and brokers. In fact, the number of DoS recipients has increased from 330 in 2022 to 703 in 2023, an increase of 145%, according to the reported data. These two mainly concern cases of fraud, corruption and misappropriation of public funds. Among them, 22 similar cases were identified in 2023.
