Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Coach Augustine Eguavoen, has arrived at the Ikenne-Remo camp of the Super Eagles B, accompanied by new Head Coach Éric Sékou Chelle and his agent, Sidibe Abraham Brehima. The trio arrived via a ValueJet Airline CRJ 700 aircraft, departing from Abuja to Lagos on Tuesday morning before continuing their journey to the Remo Stars’ Sports Institute in Ogun State.
At the official unveiling of Coach Chelle on Monday, NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau clarified that Chelle’s role with the Super Eagles B will be supervisory. The trio of Daniel Ogunmodede, Fidelis Ilechukwu, and Olatunji Baruwa, who led the team to qualify for the African Nations Championship, will continue to be responsible for the team’s preparation and participation in the upcoming tournament.
Meanwhile, the draw for the 8th African Nations Championship is set to take place in Nairobi, Kenya, on Wednesday evening. Super Eagles Team Administrator, Dayo Enebi Achor, is already in Nairobi ahead of the ceremony, which will be held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre at 6 pm Nigeria time.
CAF’s Director of Competitions, Mr. Samson Adamu, will be assisted by Uganda’s Hassan Wasswa, Tanzanian player Mrisho Ngasa, and Kenyan football legend McDonald Mariga. A total of 19 countries will be in the draw, including joint hosts Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda, as well as Nigeria, Morocco, Guinea, Senegal, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Algeria, Niger Republic, Congo, Sudan, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, Angola, and Madagascar.
