Christmas: Police to deploy 24-hour joint patrol on Kaduna–Abuja highway

The Kaduna State Police Command has announced plans to conduct a 24-hour joint patrol along the Kaduna–Abuja Highway as part of security measures for the Christmas and New Year festivities.

The initiative, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Mansir Hassan, is aimed at ensuring the safety of commuters and residents during the festive period.

The statement said the Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, has directed all tactical commanders to carry out round-the-clock patrols and surveillance along the highway, a major transit route linking the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, with northern Nigeria.

The operation will be conducted in collaboration with the FCT Police Command and other security agencies to strengthen security coverage along the corridor and border areas between Kaduna State and the FCT.

According to the police, the patrols are intended to deter criminal activities, enhance police visibility, and reassure motorists and travellers of adequate security before, during, and after the festive season.

The commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, noting that patrols and surveillance would be sustained beyond the Yuletide.

He also acknowledged the support of the military and other security agencies involved in policing the highway.

The police warned against the spread of false or misleading information on social media capable of causing panic, urging members of the public to cooperate with security agencies to ensure the success of the operation.
