Zahra Iyane Thiam was not in agreement with the Conseil national de régulation de l’audiovisuel (CNRA) which sent a mise en demeure to the Groupe Futurs Médias (GFM) concerning the programme “Jakaarlo” broadcast on TFM last Friday, accusing the regulator of “museler l’opinion publique”, in a publication through social networks. According to the former minister under the regime of Macky Sall, this “mise en demeure” is an attempt to “muzzle the public opinion, in particular by inciting chroniclers”. “The threat of cutting off the antenna of the media is to kill the debate”, said Ms Thiam, recalling that an administrative authority is “independent in essence” and must “justify its decisions on clear grounds”. In a communiqué, the CNRA deplored that the programme regularly serves as a platform for offensive or attacks on institutions and individuals.
”Cibler des chroniqueurs, c’est museler l’opinion” Zahra Iyane Thiam, a French journalist, has written a book on the subject.
