The National Union of Civil Servants of the Armed Forces, Security Enterprises, Service Businesses and the Like (SYNPAS) is sounding the alarm about the uncertain future of the civilian personnel employed in the French military bases in Senegal. This concern follows the announcement by the Senegalese and French authorities to close these bases by 2025. Facing the press yesterday, Wednesday, the representatives of SYNPAS expressed their concern about the loss of more than 500 jobs, direct and indirect, linked to French military installations. Mody Guiro, of the Conseil National des Travailleurs du Sénégal (CNTS), also took the floor to support these demands, stressing the importance of human and social accompaniment. “I would like to appeal here to the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko to tell them that the situation of the workers of the French forces in Cap Vert deserves reflection. It would therefore be necessary to provide them with all the solidarity and support necessary to enable these workers to flourish with dignity”, declared Mody Guiro, who promised the presence of the CNTS alongside these peers. We will make with you the necessary proposals so that your concerns your rights but also the necessary accompaniment is provided. ” On the other hand, the syndicalist calls on the state authorities to preserve the social climate. “We appeal to our authorities to preserve the national social climate. Because with the perturbations we cannot develop.
