Commuters stuck in Gridlock on Lokoja–Abuja highway

Motorists traveling on the Lokoja–Abuja highway are stuck in a massive traffic jam, just days ahead of Christmas.

The gridlock, which has lasted for several hours, is reported to be worse around the Koton Karfe axis.

While some sources attribute the congestion to two trucks that fell on the highway, others say the slow pace of ongoing road rehabilitation is to blame.

Some commuters had to navigate dusty off-road routes to bypass the blockage.

Security personnel, including officers from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), have been deployed to the area to help manage traffic and ease the congestion.
