It is with deep concern that we allow ourselves to recall the growing indifference and immaterial violence affecting our Senegalese society known and recognized for its values of solidarity and “teranga”. We are facing a society in crisis characterized by the development of an individual driven by his own selfish interests. We are witnessing, in our country, the preeminence of having and money over being (Clément M., 2018: 47).. We are witnessing the weakening of the values of sharing, solidarity, empathy, marked by an increase in “bop sa bop”, of success in the singular, and, in sum, the exacerbation of individualism. Our silence, our indifference and our contempt for the sufferings of our fellow citizens, our insensitivity to the misfortunes and the pains of our brothers and sisters, testify that our society is but the shadow of itself. The causes of this suffering do not all reside in the “system”, they also belong to others who persecute, who despise, who ignore. If social suffering raises the question of the justice of institutions, it also raises the evil in itself. ” (Clément M., 2018: 11). The first of these is the What has become of our principles of solidarity, our traditions of assistance to the needy and our duty of humanity towards our fellow citizens?
