The financial prosecutor’s office has initiated a series of investigations into contracts signed under the former regime of Macky Sall. Among the files examined is that of payments made to the French firm Lazareff Le Bars, co-founded by the lawyer Benoît Le Bars, specialized in litigation and international arbitration. According to Le Quotidien, financial documents reveal that between April 2018 and April 2024, the Cabinet received 6,736 billion CFA francs from the Senegalese State, paid into an account in France. The last payment was made on 2 April 2024, the day of the oath of office of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye à Diamniadio. Le cabinet Lazareff Le Bars had already appeared in an arbitration file involving the Senegalese company Électricité du Rip (EDR), a subsidiary of the Enco group, headed by businessman Abdou Sy. The law firm Lazareff Le Bars, which represented the State in the dispute, has finally found its client guilty.
