Old Bailey, the Central Criminal Court of England and Wales, has jailed popular UK rapper, Ghetts for the killing of a 20-year-old university student, Yubin Tamang.
Ghetts whose real name is Justin Clarke-Samuel, was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment, with 17 years driving ban after pleading guilty to dangerous driving that caused death.
The 41-year-old singer struck Yubin Tamang on October 18 2025, with his BMW M5 in a hit-and-run collision in north-east London. And the victim died in hospital two days after the accident.
The prosecutor, Philip McGhee, informed the court that the singer who was drunk, was about one and a half times over legal alcohol limit.
Ghetts was said to have veered onto wrong side of the road, mounted the kerb, collided with other cars before hitting Tamang.
Judge Mark Lucraft KC, however, described the CCTV footage of the accident as a “quite appalling litany of incidents” that were “simply shocking”.
