CPI: Nigeria needs to block leakages that aid corruption – CISLAC

A civic organization, Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre, CISLAC, has called on the Nigerian Government to block every leakage that aids corruption in the country.

The Executive Director of CISLAC, Auwal Rafsanjani, made the call on Arise Television on Wednesday.

He was reacting to the recently released 2025 Corruption Perception Index, CPI.

DAILY POST reports that Nigeria was ranked 142nd out of 182 countries in the 2025 CPI released on Tuesday by Transparency International.

Rafsanjani said, “If you look at the report of the Auditor-General again, he has also indicted the National Assembly for collecting bribe and some of the members themselves complained that before they are allowed to present motion they have to pay bribe. This is a very serious issue.

“If you look at the same Auditor-General’s reports in the judiciary as collaborated by the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA. They have also highlighted the deepening concern of corruption in the judiciary.

“Whereas some people believe that they can just procure judgment, and access to justice is becoming an illusion for ordinary Nigerians.

“So there’s no way Corruption Perception Index will improve if this real time corruption are happening in Nigeria.

“So Transparency International is issuing this report as a wake up call so that we can look at gaps and block those leakages.”
