The Deputy Cheikh Tidiane Youm will soon be dismissed from all his responsibilities within the Party of Unity and Rally (PUR). The leaders held a press conference this Saturday in front of the party headquarters. The objective of this meeting was, according to them, to define a new organization more solid and adequate. During this meeting, it was recalled that their only leader remains the moral responsible of the party, Serigne Moustapha Sy. A major decision was announced concerning the Secretary General: Cheikh Tidiane Youm was declared undesirable within the PUR. Thus, it was decided to dismiss him from all his positions of responsibility in this party. He is accused of sowing discord and deepening the disagreement between the base and the party leadership. According to the national secretary of the PUR youth movement, “in relation to all the events that have taken place, Sheikh Tidiane Youm has not respected the party’s orientations. Consequently, it has been requested by the Assembly to defend itself from all its national and peripheral responsibilities within the PUR. “The national leaders and the general secretaries of the PUR federations have therefore decided to set up an ad hoc committee which will lead to the holding of a General Assembly in the coming days.
