The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced another extension for companies operating under the Fast Track Scheme to migrate to the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Programme.
The new compliance deadline has been moved from December 31, 2025, to January 31, 2026, giving operators an additional month to complete the transition.
In a statement issued yesterday, the Service said the extension reflects its drive to enhance trade efficiency, safeguard the supply chain, and improve adherence to international standards.
According to the statement: “Consequently, all existing Fast Track beneficiaries who are yet to complete their migration are advised to initiate and conclude their AEO applications through the official platform: aeo.nigeriatradehub.gov.ng.”
It added that the revised date allows businesses more time to fulfil the necessary conditions and obtain AEO certification without disrupting ongoing operations.
“The extended timeline provides operators with ample opportunity to meet programme requirements and secure AEO certification without disruption to their business operations.”
Operators were encouraged to contact the designated AEO helpdesk for support, enquiries, or technical assistance.
The NCS reiterated that only companies that secure AEO status will continue to enjoy the facilitation incentives previously attached to the Fast Track Scheme.
The AEO Programme, recognised internationally, offers trusted traders benefits including faster cargo processing, reduced paperwork, minimal physical checks, pre-arrival clearance, and improved predictability in international trade activities.
The Service noted that the new deadline underscores its determination to ensure all stakeholders experience a smooth migration process.
It explained that the transition aligns with the World Customs Organisation’s SAFE Framework and provisions in Sections 108–111 of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023.
To further aid compliance, the NCS plans to hold another broad-based Stakeholders Engagement Forum, which will offer demonstrations on the application process and address any migration or compliance issues.
“To further support stakeholders and sustain ongoing sensitisation efforts, the Service will convene another comprehensive Stakeholders Engagement Forum to provide practical guidance on the migration process, demonstrate application procedures, and address compliance-related concerns,” the statement added.
