The Dakar Departmental Hygiene Brigade carried out on Thursday a large-scale control operation at the market in Petersen and its surroundings, resulting in the seizure of a significant quantity of expired products. The intervention of the agents of the Brigade permitted the withdrawal from the market of foodstuffs and other products whose expiry date was well past, some of which even showed visible signs of alteration. The seizure is part of the regular action to combat the marketing of products unfit for human consumption, a recurrent phenomenon in certain markets in the capital. They also invite the population to increase vigilance and to report any irregularities in order to contribute to the preservation of public health. Exemplary sanctions will be applied to offenders in order to discourage such fraudulent practices.
