The Grand Théâtre national Doudou Ndiaye Coumba Rose temporarily suspends its activities from 1 to 30 August 2025, as announced by its director general, Serigne Fall Gueye, in a video. This closure, justified by renovation and modernisation works, is aimed at improving the infrastructure. M. and He added that this temporary suspension would allow for the installation of new technical installations and repair work. “This pause is part of the improvements necessary to the good functioning of the establishment, in order to better serve and welcome the public”, he explained. During this period of closure, the artistic activities initially planned on the grand scène will be moved to the Théâtre de verdure, an open-air structure with a capacity of 10 000 seats.
