Aïda Ndiambé Lo, a widow of 42 years, appeared on Wednesday 29 October 2025 before the tribunal correctionnel de Dakar. Judged for “association de malfaiteurs, offre et détention de drogue”, she faces three years of prison ferme, a penalty required by the prosecutor. The case dates back to his arrest in 2024 in a bus from Mali. A search of his luggage had allowed the discovery of three kilograms of Indian hemp (yamba) carefully concealed. Before the court, the accused presented a contradictory defence. She denied knowing the nature of the parcel, claiming to have simply accepted to send it to Dakar for a certain Moussa, resident in Mali, without financial counterpart. However, the judge recalled his initial statements during the investigation. She had explicitly admitted to having agreed to transport the drugs for a fee of 100 000 CFA francs, explaining that her precarious situation as a widow seeking to provide for her children had been exacerbated. Detained for a year and without a lawyer for her defence, Aïda Ndiambé Lo a vu le juge mettre sa décision en délibéré.
