This Monday, 10 November, I had the honour of attending the Journée des Forces Armées nationales, presided over by His Excellency the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Monsieur Ousmane Sonko. This ceremony was a moment of pride and homage to our valiant Diambars, models of courage, loyalty and devotion in the service of the Nation. Placed under the theme “L’Armée, partenaire des Jeux olympiques de la jeunesse de 2026”, this edition symbolises the concept of “Armée/Nation” and illustrates the central role of our armed forces in the promotion of peace, security and the influence of Senegal through sport, youth and civility. I salute the bravery and courage of our soldiers, and congratulate Minister Birame Diop and General Mbaye Cissé, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, for the fine organization of this day. I bow before the memory of our fallen heroes and express my deep gratitude to those who continue to serve with honor and bravery. Long live our armed forces! Long live the Republic of Senegal!
