In a communiqué made public, the Pastef parliamentary group announced that it would take note of the decision of the Conseil constitutionnel rejecting the proposition de loi d’Amadou Ba portant interprétation de la loi d’amnistie. However, the parliamentary majority indicates that the families of the victims now have the possibility of lodging complaints regarding the decision of the constitutional judges and considers that it is the duty of the judiciary to do its work in full independence. The long-awaited reaction of the parliamentary group of the ruling party which saw its proposal of law rejected for non-conformity to the Constitution has just fallen. The members of the majority shall take note of the decision of the Constitutional Council. However, the analysis made by Amadou Ba et compagnie of this decision seems to be far from that which the opposition has made. In fact, the Groupe parlementaire du Pastef considers, in the first place, that it follows from that decision that murder, murder, torture, barbaric acts, inhuman, cruel or degrading treatment are imprescriptible crimes which cannot be covered by an amnesty law. In the second place, the members of the majority maintain that the decision of the Conseil constitutionnel confers on the victims a right to compensation, in accordance with Article 2 of the Interpretative Law.
