In the context of the operations carried out in Military Zone No 4, the forces de défense et de sécurité, in coordination with the Gendarmerie nationale, have carried out today the dismantling of two clandestine gold-mining sites located in the vicinity of Niamaya, sur la Falémé. The operation resulted in the arrest of six individuals and the seizure of several equipment used for the illegal exploitation of gold resources. Among the confiscated materials were eleven motorcycle pumps, a motorcycle and various tools, which were handed over to the Gendarmerie de Khossanto for the needs of the investigation. The operation continues in the zone, and other similar actions are planned to strengthen the security and protect the national heritage.
