Démantèlement de trafiquants de médicaments au marché de Thiaroye

An important operation to combat illicit drug trafficking was conducted on Monday, 2 June 2026, at the Thiaroye market. According to our confrères de Sud Quotidien, this joint intervention of the National Brigade de Lutte contre la Piraterie et la Contrefaçon (BNLPC) and the Agency de Réglementation Pharmaceutique (ARP) has allowed the dismantling of seven illegal deposits of pharmaceutical products. The action resulted in the seizure of twenty-six bags of fake medicines, intended to feed the parallel market without respecting the sanitary norms. These dangerous products exposed the population to serious health risks. This discovery has once again highlighted the scale of the trafficking of counterfeit medicines in Senegal, a phenomenon as discreet as it is alarming which affects both public health and the legal economy of the pharmaceutical sector. The joint efforts of the BNLPC and the ARP to eradicate this disease continue. They reaffirmed their determination to relentlessly pursue the smugglers with the support of the security forces and the health authorities.
