The Regional Brigade of Narcotics (BRS) in Dakar, which is part of the Central Office for the Suppression of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs (OCRTIS), has struck a great blow against the trafficking of nitrous oxide, a prohibited substance often diverted for recreational purposes. On 10 November 2025, at around 22h20, three individuals were arrested in the quarters of Ouakam et des HLM, in possession of 78 bottles of this gas, also known as “laughing gas”. This operation, based on operational intelligence, highlighted the efforts of the Senegalese authorities to combat this emerging scourge. The intervention was initiated following information indicating a significant trafficking organised by an individual operating unhindered in the Ouakam, Mamelles and Almadies sectors. The agents of the BRS have initially arrested a prime suspect in Yoff, in possession of bottles of nitrous oxide. Continuing their investigations, they traced the chain all the way back to the main supplier, arrested in Ouakam.
